Liam spent the first part of his career working as a fundraiser for a national charity. He then took some time away from the sector to follow his entrepreneurial spirit. When he sold his successful care home business just 10 years later, he used the proceeds to return to his philanthropic roots. His first move was a little uncommon : “I knew it was time to reconnect in a qualitative way with the voluntary sector” Liam tells us “and I was privileged enough to do this through my own experience as a Secret Millionaire, for the Channel 4 show.”
Secret Millionaire immersed Liam in the world of homelessness and poverty and let him be able to interact with charities on the ground and see first hand the impact his support had on their beneficiaries. Living undercover as a homeless person not only brought Liam face to face with the horror that the vagrant live through each day, but also brought home the positive implications that he and others can have on their situation. This experience will stay with him forever, says Liam : “Philanthropy can be life changing for the recipient, and also the donor.”

Parents have expectations of their children with everything from grades in school and how they dress to college and career choices later on. Parental (satisfaction – approval – disappointment) creates conflict and problems in the relationship (with – between – to) them and their teenagers. It often comes across as anger, giving teenagers the feeling of rejection (by – from – after) the people who were once the most important figures in their lives. During the teen years, children (nature – natural – naturally) move toward establishing independence, according to The F.U.N. Place website, or Families United (on – at – in) the Net. Most teenagers are heavily influenced by people outside their family with music, what to wear and (another – others – other) passions that their parents may not approve (off – of – for). Parents need to realize that this is normal and they are still important in their children’s lives, even (where – what – when) it appears that the teens are trying to push them away.
